CO₂ absorbents for inhalation anesthesia

Atrasorb manufactures CO₂ absorbents used in the medical field for procedures that require inhalation anesthesia.

In anesthesia and ventilation circuits, the absorbent is what allows exhaled gas to be reused, removing carbon dioxide before it returns to the patient.

After extensive research and rigorous testing, Atrasorb developed the Atrasorb Pharma, Atrasorb Pharma FIX and Atrasorb Pharma FREE lines, each with an indicator behaviour and composition suited to different protocols and anesthetics.

The semi-spherical pellets, once packed into the canister, do not form preferential channels — ensuring homogeneous CO₂ absorption and greater yield per kilo of product.

Why Atrasorb

  • Negligible dust release across all medical lines.
  • Semi-spherical pellets that prevent channeling inside the canister.
  • Moisture content of 16% to 18% in the Pharma line, humidifying the inhaled air.
  • Saturation indicators with Thiazole Yellow G (FIX) and Ethyl Violet (FREE).
  • Registered products, with safety data sheets and instructions for use available.

Packaging of the Atrasorb Pharma CO₂ absorbent for anesthesia

Atrasorb PHARMA

Negligible dust release and semi-spherical pellets that do not create preferential channels inside the canister.

Developed after extensive research and rigorous quality testing, Atrasorb Pharma® has negligible dust release and semi-spherical pellets which, once packed into the canister, do not create preferential channels — ensuring homogeneous CO₂ absorption.

Through dedicated processes, equipment and technology, Atrasorb Pharma® reached a high level of CO₂ absorption compared with its main competitors, which means savings thanks to greater yield.

Another highlight is the moisture content between 16% and 18%, which helps humidify and warm the air inhaled during anesthesia.

Packaging of Atrasorb Pharma FIX with saturation indicator

Atrasorb PHARMA FIX

Permanent colour change after saturation, using Thiazole Yellow G as indicator.

Atrasorb Pharma FIX shows a permanent colour change after saturation and contains only calcium hydroxide as absorbent, plus calcium chloride and calcium sulphate that optimise product hydration.

It is especially recommended for procedures with halogenated anesthetics — Sevoflurane, Desflurane, Halothane, Enflurane and Isoflurane — because the absorption reaction is less exothermic, greatly reducing the formation of toxic substances such as Compound A.

It presents negligible dust dispersion and semi-spherical granules which, compressed in the canister, do not form channels, allowing homogeneous gas absorption.

Packaging of Atrasorb Pharma FREE with Ethyl Violet

Atrasorb PHARMA FREE

Ethyl Violet in the formula, providing a sharp visual indicator once the product is saturated.

The product's highlight is Ethyl Violet in its formula, providing a clear visual indicator when the product is saturated so it can be replaced at the right moment.

It retains the characteristics of the Pharma line: very low dust release, semi-spherical granules and homogeneous CO₂ absorption in the canister.
